Janet has practiced civil litigation for over 20 years.  She now focuses on litigation from the perspective of both the Plaintiff and the Defendant.  She finds that the experience greatly assists addressing what her clients may expect from opposing counsel.  Janet is quite effective in concluding legal matters in a timely manner. Janet primarily practices in the following areas:

• employment law
• personal injury
• contract and construction matters

 Her practice also includes:

• insurance defence
• property claims
• occupier liability claims

Janet has appeared before the Court of Queen’s Bench and the Provincial Courts of Alberta on numerous occasions. She has also effectively resolved many cases through mediation, a result of her efforts to keep litigation costs at a more manageable level for her clients.

Community & Professional Involvement

Having a strong passion for the arts, Janet has conducted concert and jazz bands, choirs, handbell groups, and continues to conduct various musical groups during the school years.  She is presently conducting a jazz vocal group consisting of students from Grades 4 through 6.  Janet also plays her saxophone on numerous occasions.  She has played in a variety of bands, and has also volunteered for church music ministries, playing sax and flute, and assisted with a variety of community and social causes for many years, including ‘Inn for the Cold’ and organizing Christmas hamper projects.

An avid skier from Marble Mountain in western Newfoundland, it is not unusual to find Janet wrapped around a tree off the beaten path at Lake Louise or on her favorite hill, Fernie, B.C.  She also enjoys a variety of other interests such as sailing, golfing, hiking, playing hockey, and the theatre that keep her busy when she’s not in the office.
