Brian has retired from the full time practice of law after 23 years of successful work in areas of administrative law and taxation.

Brian’s practice focuses on the areas of:

• Administrative Law
• Municipal Law
• Commercial Property Tax
• Civil Litigation
• Real Property Law
• Commercial Landlord/Tenant
• Wrongful Dismissal
• Building and Construction Law

Brian has appeared in and conducted hearings at all levels of property assessment tribunals in Alberta, the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta and the Court of Appeal of Alberta. He has also participated in property tax hearings in British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

Publications

Brian is a regular contributor to and past editor of the bi-monthly publication “Communication Update” dealing with property assessment and taxation matters across Canada.

“Assessment and Taxation of Resource Properties in Canada” (2000), 11 Journal of Property Tax Management 36.

Community & Professional Involvement

On a professional level, Brian is involved in the following organizations:

• Current President and Director of the Canadian Property Tax Association
• Past Chair, Western Chapter of the Canadian Property Tax Association

As part of his involvement in the community, Brian is the Past President of the Calgary Scope Society and a Member of the Scope Society, a non-profit charity working in alliance with people with disabilities, their families and the community.
